The Egg that Changed My Life Story Sample

I know, it seems silly.  Some egg yolk and egg fat changing my life.  (I didn’t get fat!)  It’d be typical to start from where I found the ridiculously colorful egg, but now that I ponder even more about it, it seemed to have really begun towards the middle of the night.  I woke up as my room became stuffed with light.  I groggily opened my eyes and looked at where the light came from to tell whomever it was to turn it off.  But when my eyes saw my room, it was pitch black.  Only a faint glimmer shone outside my window.  It was a mini rainbow in some sort.  So I said (you have to excuse me, I was sleeping seconds ago), “Mom, turn off the light!”  And I fell asleep.
The next day, Easter!  We had an omelet that morning.  (I know you’re thinking that egg made me fat, but it didn’t!  That wasn’t the right egg!  There are too many eggs on this day!  It’s too confusing!)
Then began the egg hunt.  (Yes, it is one of those eggs that changed my life, or should I say, changed me.  All went well.  I had already filled my basket and prepared to go empty it out when I spark caught my eye.  The spark came from near my room’s window on the grass.  I parted the grass and found a shiny surface reflecting the sun’s light buried in the earth.  With my fingers, I dug it out.  I was an egg.
If I had known back then, I would have thrown it into the street and watched as a car easily ran over it cracking it and everything inside.  But I didn’t know.
I placed it into my basket on the top of an unstable pile.  I ran back towards the house to begin counting how many eggs I had collected.  Yet, It was too much of a bumpy ride for the egg and it decided to get out of my basket.  Of course, it cracked.  Instead of yolk and egg white pouring out and staining my shoes, some beads peeped out of the debris.  And of course, instead of ignoring the cursed egg, I squatted down and examined it.
I parted the shell pieces and pulled out a necklace.  It had many charms on it.  Eggs, bunnies, chicks, baskets, and more Easter stuff.  On the back of each charm, though, lay an inscribed name such as Lauren Tarus, Daisy Pazani, and Rachel Toshabi.  Little did I know my name would soon be there too.  I did the most obvious thing any girl would do, I tried it on.  The trees seemed to get bigger and the house as well.  The grass got longer and our dog seemed like an elephant.  No, I was shrinking.  I knew instantly it was the necklace.  I reached up for it and realized it was gone!  Yet, I felt like I had another layer of skin on my hands and neck.  I looked at my hand and shrieked.  I stared at a furry white paw!  I reached onto my head suspecting the worse, and surely enough, I had two long ears standing straight up.  I had become a bunny.  I ran as my dog spotted me and darted at me.  I squeezed under the fence just in time to hear my dog ferociously scratching at the door.
In the shade by my side sat peacefully a bright colorful basket with ribbons and eggs in it.  It also had a note attached.  I read it:

Dear Emily Carson,
You have been chosen to become the next Easter bunny.
Your duty is quite simple.  Deliver one egg to every child.
If you succeed, your name will be inscribed in the necklace
and you may continue you life peacefully.  Yet, if you fail
deliver all these eggs and lift children’s spirits, you will stay
a bunny forever and roam the dangerous wild, so beware.
Sincerely, The King of the Bunnies

You wouldn’t usually take a bunny seriously, but I did.

  1. I really like this story! Please keep writing it! It sounds really interesting! If you're stuck, maybe the next thing that happens is that the "bunny" gets a second note, telling her where to find the easter eggs to give out, or something. Anyway, keep writing!
